Karin Knorr Cetina CV

Karin Knorr Cetina, born in Graz, is Professor for sociology at University Konstanz (D).

She is also a member of the Institut für Weltgesellschaft at the University Bielefeld, and teaches at the University of Chicago, USA. She has written numerous international articles on the sociology of knowledge and of financial markets and is a.o. well known for her research on the scientific laboratory, illustrated i.e. in the books “Die Fabrikation von Erkenntnis“ (reprint Suhrkamp 2002) and “Wissenskulturen“ (Suhrkamp 2002), which received international awards. She was president of the International “Society for Social Studies of Science“ and member of the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton and an invited member of the Center for Behavioral Science, Palo Alto, California. She is currently working on a book about the global microstructures of financial markets.
